Who Is The Accüsed A.D.? Seattle's Splatter Rock Band

· The Band

If you've seen The Accüsed A.D. tear through a set, you already know the feeling: horror-movie lyrics, fast riffs and a crowd screaming along. But who is the band, and how does it connect to The Accüsed? Here's a quick guide for new fans and old ones.

Where does The Accüsed A.D. come from?

The story starts with The Accüsed, a crossover thrash band formed around Seattle, Washington, in 1981. From 1984 the band called its sound splatter rock, after the horror films its members loved, and gave it a zombie mascot, Martha Splatterhead.

Who is in The Accüsed A.D.?

At its core are two members of the classic lineup: singer Blaine Cook, who joined The Accüsed in 1984 after The Fartz, and Alex Sibbald, who joined in 1986 and now plays guitar. The band grew out of Toe Tag, the project the two started after the 2003 reunion. The band says the "AD" stands for afterdeath, and they chose it to make clear who they are.

What does it sound like?

Splatter rock, the way it was meant to be: hardcore speed, thrash riffs and lyrics straight out of a horror comic.
